using inkscape, jscut, chilipeppr and testing svg images with pen.
cant seem to get consistency with homing zero.
sometimes the pen will lift, travel to the start of the work, lower, and start the drawing. other times with the same opening settings, the pen never lifts, and draws a line all the way to the work.
is it jscut? the size of the file, im doing 1-5mb svg files.
i can save what works, and try to load it again, and the pen never lifts.
pretty frustrating. even tried flashing the tinyg. looked like it was loading, but said failed. haven't even tried a cutter yet, glad i haven't. just looking for consistency at the start. tried zeroing Z, tried zeroing G54. no consistency.
here is the sequence..... open up chilipeppr, the logo is there, drag in a gcode file from jscut. it looks ready to go. puts it in bottom right quadrant, no problem. not sure what gcode should say as far as a command to lift as the first action, but viewing the workpeice, it always looks like its the first action. if i hit go....sometimes it works. other times not. so i tried dragging in the file and hitting machine zero and then run it. 50-50 on that. other times i drag in the file, and hit zero G54. that is hit and miss. im wondering about file size possibilities. did an engrave of a converted SVG that was 4.5 meg......it worked properly. so.....i cant find consistency. i tried different settings in jscut and tried to troubleshoot that out..... again 50-50. whenever i find something that works fron jscut i do a snip of my jscut settings, and use them for next job.....material dimensions, tooling, depth, speed.....etc, etc, etc.....it exactly the same. result is.....doesnt lift.
so, glad im using a pen instead of a bit, otherwise it would be expensive. im hoping to engrave some cast or extruded acrylic. im sure figuring out bits and sppeds for that will be an experience. ha. but for now, need to fully understand why thing go right sometimes, nd other times. nada.
